Establishing the baseline.
The client, a multi-billion dollar manufacturer, utilized ETC resources to improve their safety management system. Our process began with a comprehensive audit across six sites, both domestic and international.
We conducted a full review of existing programs, collaborating closely with top leadership, including the Chief Supply Chain Officer, EHS Director, Manufacturing VP, and Continuous Improvement Director.
On the ground, we engaged operators, maintenance personnel, trainers, and plant managers, evaluating the internal management system's effectiveness. This included assessing leadership commitment, worker participation, performance metrics, and OSHA compliance in the U.S. and Canada.
Ultimately, we identified over 1,000 findings, highlighting strengths as well as critical areas for improvement.
Framing for the future.
With these findings, we developed a targeted five-year plan that focused on eliminating hazards, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and increasing compliance.
The plan included prioritized corrective actions based on risk to ensure that the highest-impact issues were addressed first, rather than overwhelming the organization with an all-at-once approach.
This strategy secured a $1M investment dedicated to corrective actions, setting the organization on a sustainable path toward improved safety and compliance.
Closing the gaps.
Execution began with the EHS managers owning the corrective actions, with ETC providing ongoing support, education, and problem-solving when challenges arose.
We coordinated with specialized resources for specific solutions, such as machine guard repairs and engaging electrical engineers for arc flash assessments.
This collaborative approach ensured that solutions were both technically sound and effectively integrated into day-to-day operations.
Maintaining positive change.
After six months, we returned to verify the corrective actions and assess the plan’s overall effectiveness. We offered additional recommendations to further enhance the outcomes, supporting the client in maintaining long-term improvements and a self-sustaining safety culture.
Imagine what this could look like for your organization. If you're ready to turn your safety goals into tangible outcomes, let’s get started. Connect with ETC today, and let’s partner to build a safer, stronger future for your company.
